The power of music....
Have you ever taken the time to notice how powerful music is in a persons life? Rather they like jazz, blues, country, rock, metal, celtic, rap, pop, hiphop, or anything else. Maybe they like a combination of them all. Music has the power to make someone sad, happy, strong, weak, or vent out their anger.
With my father gone music gives me a feeling of being connected with him because we both have a love for the classic rock groups such as Neil Young, AC/DC, The Beatles, Kiss, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Guns N' Roses, Poison, etc. Also I feel calmer when I have music running in the background. Writing becomes easier and words flow more. My mind stops racing and life just seems a lot nicer. Sure I have different songs and genres I like to listen to at different times and for different reasons.
I know I am not the only person that listens to music to calm down, go to sleep, write, or just have my mood altered in random life times. So what music do you all listen to? What helps you in tough times? What about at night?

Release Date!!! And a special giveaway
For those of you that are not wanting to wait on Amazon(5-7 days) you can buy my poetry book here https://www.createspace.com/3774957
I am so excited right now that I am finally a published author. It truly is a huge rush of emotion. And for those of you that are like oh big deal its a poem book. A poetry book is just as much a work of art as other books. Not everyone can write poems. Also don't worry my first novel for my series is almost ready for editing and my children's book is currently getting its illustrations. I could make a cook book but honestly that just sounds like a lot of work. I have a few too many recipes. But I love to cook. Yum.
Now why most of you are probably here is for the giveaway!!! Okay so I will give one lucky person a signed copy of my book "Words that make sentences that make poems". Here however are the rules...
1. You MUST be a follower of this blog.
2. You MUST leave a comment with your email so I can contact you if you win.
3. You are allowed to tweet 1 per day.
4. You get extra points for liking my facebook page, following me on twitter (I will follow you back), and for liking this blog post.
5. You are also allowed to promote the book for sale in any way you can. You get an extra point each day that you do this.
The contest is through February 14th 8th. So on February 9th I will pick the winner of my poetry book! GOOD LUCK!!!

Baby Dragon's Sound Cover
One thing about children's books is you get to have fun....
I know I am not the best drawer in the world but the above picture is a picture of my cover for my children's book "Baby Dragon's Sound" that I am in the process of getting the illustrations done for before I submit it around for print. I love children's books cause they are so full of imagination and colors and just cute and fun.
So give me your opinion of the above cover picture. I'd really love some feed back on what you like or don't like.

Special People deserve special post
Meet Lauren Medford. My awesome Cousin. You can click her picture to find her facebook page.
I am making this post about her because she did the design for my upcoming poetry book (hope to have it out for sale next week or end of this one). It was gorgeous. I absolutely love love love it! She is currently in a local NC college for graphic design. She is also working on her portfolio so when she gets out of college she can go out and find a place for her creativity.
Here is a front cover shot she did for my upcoming poetry book. Would love to know if you like it as much as I do.
If you are looking to add some unique pictures to your book check her out and see if she can help you out.
