Movie Review: The Dark Knight

Batman, Gordon and Harvey Dent are forced to deal with the chaos unleashed by a terrorist mastermind known only as the Joker, as he drives each of them to their limits.

Would I recommend this movie to others? Yeah

First off let me start by saying that I do like batman. I think a super hero without super powers is pretty cool. However this movie is and was only made great because of the Joker. (RIP Heath Ledger) I do not think they really put much behind Batman himself and some of it is just very weird to me. But maybe that is because I am old school and much of the movie doesn't follow the comic book or original story... yeah probably that.

Movie Review: Schindler's List

In Poland during World War II, Oskar Schindler gradually becomes concerned for his Jewish workforce after witnessing their persecution by the Nazis.

Would I recommend this to others? Yes

Schindler's List is the story of how one person can help save many. It is based on the true story of Schindler and you see how he slowly starts to have his eyes opened to that around him and slowly begins to become more and more involved in saving others. This movie pulls at every heart string I have and I cry every time I watch this movie. I own it and I think it should be in every persons collection.

Movie Review: The Help

An aspiring author during the civil rights movement of the 1960's decides to write a book detailing the African-American maid's point of view on the white families for which they work, and the hardships they go through on a daily basis.

Would I recommend this Movie to others? Yes

This movie is inspiring. One girl changes the world because she wasn't afraid to go for the truth. She had the courage to go against what she believed was wrong and was able to give courage to others and have them stand up for the truth and what was right. This is one movie that is on my to buy list.

Movie Review: My Week with Marilyn

Colin Clark, an employee of Sir Laurence Olivier's, documents the tense interaction between Olivier and Marilyn Monroe during production of The Prince and the Showgirl.

3.5 out of 5 stars
Would I recommend this movie? Yes

In this movie they try to show the very complicated and very unseen side of Marilyn Monroe. I think they accomplish it. I would disagree with some of the ways they made her come off but for the most part I do believe they captured what is one of the worlds most beautiful and mysterious women. If you are not a Monroe fan let me inform you that yes she did tend to flirt and have flings with multiple people and then walk away. She did NOT sleep her way to the top. Sorry. As a Monroe fan and Idolizer I made sure to see this movie. I was not thrilled but was not disappointed either.

Happy Holidays and thats all you get.

Let me first start off by saying those of you that REQUIRE people say Merry Christmas are selfish, self centered, and close minded. There is more then just "Christmas" celebrated during the month of December. And here is just a short list.

December

5 - Ashura (Islamic, Muslim)
6 - St. Nicholas Day (International)
8 - Bodhi Day - Buddha's Enlightenment (Buddhist)
8-16 - Hanukkah (Jewish)
12 - Virgin of Guadalupe (Mexico)
13 - Santa Lucia Day (Sweden)
16-25 - Las Posadas (Mexico)
22 - Yule (Pagan)
25 - Christmas (Christian, Roman Catholic, International)
26 - Boxing Day (Canada, United Kingdom)
26 - Kwanzaa (African-American)

And guess what my friends Christianity is NOT the only religion in this country (Ranking in at only 37.5% not even half) or in this world. So if I tell you Happy Holiday then you can either smile and thank me or tell me merry Christmas in return or some other weird thing but you CAN NOT tell me that I have to say Merry Christmas. Also to really stir up the Christian community let me give you a history lesson here...okay.
Christianity is roughly 2007 years old to most which is not true but that is for another blog. Yule has been around for over 5000 years. Here are some quick facts about Yule.
Also known as: Winter Solstice, Alban Arthan, Feill Fionnain, Yuletide, Midwinter, Sun Return, and Fionn's Day
Date: Winter Solstice, usually December 21st
Symbols: Evergreens, Wreath, Yule Log, Holly, Spinning Wheel
Colors: Red, Green, and White
Deities: Newborn Gods; Triple Goddess; Virgin Goddesses
Herbs: Holly, mistletoe, ivy, cedar, bay, juniper, rosemary, frankincense, myrrh, sandalwood, and pine. Offerings can be apples, oranges, nutmegs, lemons, pinecones, oak leaves, and/or whole cinnamon sticks.

If you already noticed some similarities to the Christmas of today then watch how they celebrated.

Ancient Meaning: Yule is a time of the greatest darkness and is the shortest day of the year. Earlier peoples noticed such phenomena and supplicated the forces of nature to lengthen the days and shorten the nights. Wiccans sometimes celebrate Yule just before dawn, then watch the Sun rise as a fitting finale to their efforts.

How Ancient Pagans Celebrated: After the Norse brought Yule into prominence it nearly replaced Samhain as the date of the New Year, and many modern Celtic covens still honor Yule this way. The Nordic-influenced Celts celebrated Yule with many of the trappings we associate with modern Christmas observances; decorated evergreen trees, wreaths, holly, mistletoe, feasting, and dancing.
They also believed that on this night the Holly King, as the God of the waning year, would battle the Oak King, the God of the waxing year, and lose. Often Yule coven rituals have members reenact this fight."

Modern Meaning: Yule is the remnant of early rituals celebrated to hurry the end of winter and the bounty of spring, when food was once again readily available. To cotemporary Wiccans it is a reminder that the ultimate product of death is rebirth.

How Modern Pagans Celebrate: Since the God is also the Sun, this marks the point of the year when the Sun is reborn as well, Thus, the Wicca light fires or candles to welcome the Sun's returning light. The Goddess, slumbering through the winter of Her labor, rests after Her delivery.

Do you notice even more similar things coming into view? When Christianity started coming into a religion (not called Christianity yet but again another story for another blog) it wanted to stamp out any and all other beliefs and started plugging in holidays around the same time that other religions celebrated special times of the year. However it could not really compete with traditions and ways of celebrating that had been around long before Christianity had ever been thought of. So it adapted and took on the traditions for its own with some small changes. I could go into more details but I really don't like the religion argument base topics. They are annoying and frankly just stupid.

So the next time I see you on the street or send you a message and it says Happy Holidays just accept it and move on. Cause I am not going to change because Christianity wanted to be a bully. Everyone has the right to their own opinion and their own religion and their own holiday saying. So please get over yourself and stop sending me those stupid things about keeping Christ in Christmas.
